About Me

Iyanrick (“Iyan”) John, JD, MPH

I was born in Maryland and lived there for the first 20 years of my life. I moved between Maryland and California (a few times!) for school and jobs and have now settled in the San Francisco Bay Area where I live with my spouse, three children, and one dog.

Over the course of my career as an attorney and epidemiologist, I worked for universities, non-profit organizations, and state government. I have served in roles including public health data consultant, health policy analyst, organizational strategist, university lecturer, and stay-at-home dad. All these experiences have been important in shaping how I listen, ask questions, and interact with people. I pull from all of my personal and professional experiences in my coaching practice.

Why I Coach

After working in the field of public health and health policy for over 15 years, I took some time to think about what I wanted to do next in my life. With some deep reflection and introspection, I felt coaching was calling me and would be a good fit for my skills and talents. I enjoy listening to people, asking questions, and guiding individuals to help improve their lives.
